KT Hydraulic Nuts
Installing or removing press fit Rolling Element Bearings (Ball
Bearings) on tapered shafts, withdrawal sleeves or adapters at best is both
time consuming and difficult. Bearing life can also be extended by insuring
proper installation and removal. Hydraulic Nuts make the job easier by making
it possible to use “Hydraulic Forces” to insure proper “Drive Up” of the
Bearing onto the shaft. The Bearing is first hydraulically pressed onto the
shaft to a specified pressure (PSI). Then a dial indicator along with
additional hydraulic pressure is used to measure the “Drive Up” in mils
(0.001”) required. Hydraulic Nuts are available in both English and Metric
threads. Unthreaded versions are also available where you would make use of an
existing nut.
